Apple feels a large part of their future business stems from the potential to capture the thrust of AI and change the game in terms of applying more dynamic as well as integrated business solutions for synergy capabilities.  This is going to have big implications for the computers that power your car.

“For us, we definitely see a huge opportunity. We see it as an inflection point, we started feeling it about three to four years ago.” said Sundar Pichai who is CEO of Alphabets core Google division.

Of all the top players in tech there are a handful that are biding for supremacy of the AI arena and actually have a legitimate chance of boasting this as reality. They are Amazon, Apple, Microsoft, and Google respectively.

“We think of this as building each user their own individual Google; Google does a lot of things, but if you peel away everything and you distill it, this is the heart of what we do. It’s what we are about.”

They are now tamping up development to derive their new platform before any of the competition can go to market, a task that is easier said than done. But if I were to hedge my bets I’d say that if it were going to be anyone it would be them. This being the case, once the cat is out of the bag, you can be sure that many others will follow suit and fast. How fast you might wonder, well considering that everyone is actively pursuing this and is trying to be the next big thing in AI all say that they are possibly ahead but close to their competition.

“It’s a very early days.” Pichai said. “Google Maps wasn’t the first maps product to launch Gmail wasn’t the first email product to launch…You take a very long term view, and you invest, and you bring your strengths to it.”

“I would love to see users on iOS be able to message users on Android and vice versa, I think it benefits both of us hopefully we as an industry head in that direction. So maybe I’m making an ask here: To the extent that the big companies can work together I think it’s good for everyone.”

In the case of Apple they feel that, ” Play is a part in the next revolution in  human computer interaction. contribute to a product that is redefining mobile computing. Create groundbreaking technology for large scale systems, spoken language, big data, and artificial intelligence.”

So any way you slice the pie you can be sure that Apple is going to get a big piece of the AI helping. Now Apple is still scrambling though to understand where the lion share of their focus should go, and weather or not they are going to have the means to pivot this business model provided the business landscape does not reflect what their initial business projections look like. At any rate, the tech of the situation appears to be somewhat of an anomaly. It remains to be seen who will be top dog, but who ever is will bark.
